so, being that my mother has sent me six or so emails in the past two
days, it occurs to me that maybe there are others who are worried
about my well being. sorry i haven't posted, but things have
definitely been a bit hectic since getting back on the ship.
i was welcomed with open arms by the rest of the staff when i got
back from margarita island. they had all heard about the issue i had
dealt with and wanted to show their support. after a quick shower, i
went and hung out in the faculty/staff lounge for a while before
retiring to my bed.
well, for the past few days, i haven't been feeling well, and today
it's just gotten worse. about five minutes into my breakfast, i had
to leave the table to run to my room. and when my belly continued to
be in massive pain, i decided it was time to head to the infirmary.
i've spent most of today in my bed sleeping and feeling guilty about
not pulling my weight with the rest of the student life staff. i
know that's crazy, but i just worry that sometime during the voyage
i'll feel even worse and then i really won't be able to take it easy
cause i'll have already taken my time. anyway, so that's been my day.
i'm hoping tomorrow to feel much better. tomorrow we cross the
equator for the first day. typically on this day, king neptune
visits the ship to initiate all of the pollywogs, but i believe he's
having passport issues and won't be visiting us until after brazil.
but even without king neptune, i'm excited for the crossing.
i'm also hoping to finish typing up my journal from margarita island
and getting the rest of it posted soon (especially before i get to
brazil). so, stay tuned for more updates.
oh, and if you're wondering why this font is larger, it's because i'm
writing this offline and emailing it to the blog. i don't know why
the default font is larger, but it is.
and shannie, i wouldn't say i overpacked, but if i could do it again,
i would probably make some changes to what i packed. the one thing
we took out that i regret is the slippers!!!

Enjoy your 1st equatorial crossing. Another milestone in your exciting voyage. Also, feel better! Maybe King Neptune can wave a magic trident over you and heal you! Love you mucho!
Didn't I hear somewhere that it's tradition on a ship like that to shave your head when you cross the equator? That would CLEARLY cure whatever it is that ails you!
Kelly :)
there will be no head shaving for this pollywog...but you better believe that tons of students are planning on doing so!
