An LMU Wonderland

Tonight was the Christmas tree lighting on campus. And, like many things that happen here at LMU, I left filled with wonderment at getting to work at a place like this.

In addition to the ASLMU mugs and free hot chocolate, Iggy the Lion was in full Santa costume. Behind the tree was the ice skating rink, where your donation to take a few laps around the faux ice went straight to the Make-a-Wish Foundation. And if that wasn't enough holiday cheer, there were also horse-drawn carriage rides around Alumni Mall. There were a few hundred people both from LMU and the Westchester community gathered around. There were students spontaneously caroling and folks hugging everywhere. If snow had miraculously started falling from the sky, I wouldn't have been surprised.

And just as Fr. Lawton finished his blessing, the Christmas tree was lit, right on cue. Even Rockefeller Center could learn a thing or two from LMU.
